I'm currently reading a few books: Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo. I'm at the halfway mark and loving it's close told story of coming of age, falling in love, accepting one's sexuality as well as a look at the politics of the time and its impact on Chinese Americans and the LGBTQ community.

I'm also reading a collection of short stories by Kim Addonizio called Bukowski in a Sundress and Plath's The Bell Jar for a bookclub community.

The Bell Jar hit me right in the heart when I read it many years ago. Last Night at the Telegraph Club sounds so good! It’s been a while since I’ve read a short story collection. I should really tee one up for myself!

The Bell Jar has been a tough read, to be honest, as I'm dealing with a lot of depression that has flared up since I've been having health issues/pain. But I am pushing through.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Careless People, it simultaneously made me want read it and also fear how horrified I will be. I look forward to your thoughts on Truth and Beauty, I'm working my way through Patchett's catalog but haven't read that one yet. Another catalog I'm working through, Percival Everett - So Much Blue was my favorite read of March.

My knowledge of both Patchett and Everett are woefully lacking! I’m really loving Truth & Beauty so far, though. Patchett has such a lovely writing voice.

Recently read three very good books, two of which were ARCs: Nowhere, by Allison Gunn; Notes on Surviving the Fire, by Christine Murphy; and The Graceview Patient, by Caitlin Starling.

I hadn’t heard of any of these books but the synopses sound great!

Yes, yes, just nodding along to this entire post.

Currently anxiously awaiting my hold for Careless People to come in.

I LOVE Ann Patchett and this reminds me I still need to read Truth and Beauty 💕 And I have a copy of Pachinko sitting on my shelf just waiting to be read, also a good reminder.

I am currently reading Deep Cuts and really digging it!

This is only my second Ann Patchett (and first nonfiction from her). I love her voice. It’s so lovely to experience her friendship with Grealy as they’re both becoming their writerly selves!

I didn’t recognize Deep Cuts till I saw the cover, and then I knew. How is it? The synopsis sounds so good. And I’m looking forward to hearing what you think about Careless People!
